Sympathy for Ft. Hood Terrorist?

Nidal Malik Hasan killed 13 and wounded another 32 Americans.  I feel that this will get blushed over in the media, so it bears repeating:  Nidal Malik Hasan, a sleeper agent embedded in the United States Army killed 13 and wounded 32 Americans on November 5th, 2009, under the guise of being a trusted psychiatrist, while they were at a facility on Fort Hood preparing to go and defend the United States of America.

When Nidal Malik Hasan was Major Hasan, working as a sleeper agent in the Army, communicating and taking his orders from Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical Muslim cleric in Yemen, he woke up and shaved his beard every morning, following US Army standards and going to work.

On November 5th, 2009 he arrived at work and went on his murderous rampage, killing and wounding innocent American soldiers preparing to go defend their country; fathers, mothers, wives, husbands, all murdered by a radical Islamic terrorist.

Now that he has murdered Americans in the name of a misinterpretation of religion that goes against everything we stand for, he wants to use our criminal justice system and misguided ACLU to his liking, and is pretending that even though he spent years in the United States Army, waking up and shaving every morning like the rest of us, now that he has murdered our brethren the act of shaving  is suddenly against his religious principles.

Unfortunately, the justice in this case has been blinded by the political correctness/craziness revolution, and instead of justice for the 13 murdered and 32 wounded innocent Americans, our “justice” system has chosen to favor the Islamic Terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan, throwing the judge out for requiring that he follow the standards he swore to uphold and obey (and followed for years) when he entered the United States Army.

This is eerily similar to the case of Lt. Col Matthew Dooley, an Iraq combat veteran, who was fired from his position as a teacher at the National Defense University’s Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va.  He was teaching a course which was approved by the University titled “Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism,” and when a student got his feelings hurt because the honesty of radical Islam was being taught, Lt. Col Dooley was fired and given a performance review to end his career.

This has gone too far; playing the bait-and-switch to take the attention off of this radical Islamist Terrorist and murderer by trying to shift the attention to the judge?  Cancelling a class and ending a decorated war veterans career because someones feelings were hurt that the truth was being taught?  I can’t even express the disgust that this makes me feel for our justice system.

I pride myself on trying to make the world a better place for my son and daughter, but seeing things like this in the news makes me realize that we’re going headfirst in the wrong direction, and groups like the ACLU and politicians who don’t have the spine to stand up for what is right are the ones steering us off the cliff.

This is America, and we need to spend out time defending innocent, tax-paying, law-abiding, God fearing patriotic Americans, not radical Islamic Terrorists or people in a war college who don’t have the intestinal fortitude to hear the truth about the most violent “religion” on the planet (I’m not saying Islam is violent, but rather those radical Islamists who have hijacked and distorted the religion for their own vile wishes and deeds).

God bless America, put this scum in front of the firing squad and get it over with.

Thanksgiving, Gaza, State of the World

It’s a sad state of affairs when reality is no longer the truth of a story, but rather who has the best PR department and whose side the media takes.  Yell and scream all you want, but if you don’t believe that our for-profit media is unabashedly biased on certain subjects, you’re not paying attention.

So before I go into a tirade, it’s the holiday season (no matter what your religion…atheism is NOT a religion), so I’d like to say what I’m thankful for before going into a frenzy over the current news and coverage….a little happy before the storm.

I’m thankful for my family; I have a beautiful and amazing wife who has given me two amazing children who are already smarter and better looking than I.  They will rule the world one day if I don’t get in the way and screw them up too much first.  I’m thankful for my parents; I was born to two very young teenagers, and if this had been any other country in the world, my life would be drastically different.  Because I live in this great country I was adopted by the most amazing parents I could have ever had, and because of the lessons taught by my Dad think I’ve tuned out to be a pretty good guy…..but that’s for others to decide.

I’m thankful for my brothers and brethren, friends and acquaintances.  I have friends overseas defending this great country, friends here doing everything they can to make the world a better place, and have been lucky enough to cross paths and become friends with some truly amazing people.  Just being close to these people I feel my life becoming better and myself becoming more knowledgeable and informed….I hope to pass the same onto my kids, so that they will be the same.

Now on to what I’m NOT thankful for…….

It seems that our culture, as well as that of the world, has taken a few drastic changes for the worse.  Some people brag and call it “progressive,” but when the majority of the population believe that society is changing for the worse, how can you still stand behind the drastic changes which we’ve recently made to our society and not see that they are responsible for the degradation and erosion of our principles?  We went from the greatest generation to narcissistic participation trophy whiners in two generations……scary.

Dennis Prager has a book titled “Still the Best Hope: Why the World Needs American Values to Triumph.”  If you’re still reading this, you probably feel the same way I do about where our society is headed, and you would enjoy this book.  The audiobook is great for commuters.

Back to the biased media; The Israel/Palestine engagement is all over the news right now, and depending on which media outlet you follow, you may have a completely different view from myself or your neighbor.  I’ve been hearing various outlets (I unfortunately live in Los Angles) speaking about the horrors and atrocities committed by Israel, and news anchors asking their politicians why the don’t try to negotiate.  Here’s why: Hamas fired rockets at them.  That is what you call an unprovoked attack ,and in my world, you are open to respond to an unprovoked attack with whatever you bring to the party.

I actually heard an anchor on KTLA ask an Israeli Ambassador why they don’t just try to negotiate, and make a comment about the Israeli Army being so much more powerful, so they shouldn’t react so strongly.  Seriously?  First, Palestine/Hamas fully understand the might of the IDF (Israeli Defense Force), and if they were still stupid enough to fire rockets at them, they get what they deserve.  If you are the proverbial computer geek in High School and you walk up to the All-American Linebacker and kick him in the shins and expect not to get punched, you’re an idiot, and deserve what you get.

But this is where our current degradation of society and PR-based biased media has taken a turn for the worse; if you are the powerful country, or you end up the victor of a battle, you are painted as wrong.  It doesn’t matter if the terrorists fly airplanes into buildings and kill thousands of innocents or launch rockets in the middle of the night into the Holiest site on the planet, if you respond with your full capabilities, you’re evil.  Really?  Are you sure the other guys aren’t just looking for Darwinism to wipe them off the face of the planet?

Maintaining the PR-based, religious context of arguments and smaller guy having the loudest voice and most support today, there’s another item in my local news that bothers me to no end.  If you’ve heard anything about the Santa Monica nativity scene battle started here last year, they are having their day in court today.  Here’s where this kills me: a nativity scene is not infringing on your rights as an atheist, but the atheists trying to stop the citizens of Santa Monica’s First Amendment Rights to express their beliefs is a direct infringement.

Our forefathers came to this country to escape religious persecution…..people telling them who/how/where/when they had to worship.  That is what this country was founded on.  Atheism is the absence of religion.  Have you ever heard a Christian or Jew tell an Atheist that they weren’t free to not practice their belief in nothing?  Nope.  They are allowed to do nothing anytime and anywhere they want.

But today, a Christian group in Santa Monica who has put a nativity scene up for 60+ years, enjoyed by Christians, Jews and all of the inhabitants of Santa Monica and the Pacific Pallisades alike, has to defend their First Amendment Rights in court.  The atheists aren’t even there, oh yeah, and aren’t even residents of Santa Monica.  Great world we live in, isn’t it?

This is just one of the many hallmarks of the degrading of our society; our youth are watching and listening to these people, and as the vocal minority steals more and more rights away from the silent majority of hard-workers, religious, voters, patriotic, or whatever group will come next, the walls of our once-proud Citadel protecting freedom from ignorance and arrogance is slowly being crumbled away.

The thought that society should no longer have winners or losers, that all kids should get a participation ribbon, that a stronger Army should wear kids gloves when provoked by a weaker one, that the religious, God fearing and do-gooding people should apologize or hide their right to express their views for fear of angering a minority of self-serving narcissistic crybabies and self-created outcasts  is repugnant.  This is the United States of America; we were built to be the strongest civilization in the history of the world not by fracturing ourselves and giving everyone a label and making sure we didn’t offend them, but by standing on the shoulders of great men who brought us together and built an empire.

The more we go away from that empire building society which strives for greatness and instead reward people for the smallest of things (yay, you got out of bed today, you get a ribbon) we will continue to drive the nails into our own coffin.  Stop congratulating people for not graduating high school, being on welfare and social assistance, having 5 kids out of wedlock, looking for a quick-money scam or lawsuit rather than a career.  Shame those people, just as our Grandparents would have, and send them packing to get a job and help build this empire, not chip away at the bastions until they crumble.

And always remember, if you mess with the bull, you’re gonna get the horns……Happy Thanksgiving.

Veterans Day

The time of year is upon us again when the patriotic emails begin to circulate, people hit the grocery stores to get ready for the traditional BBQ, and we as Americans try to do whatever we can to show support for our brothers-in-arms, those who have served, are serving, or who aren’t with us anymore.

The media and popular opinion do a great job of forming their own opinions, but those of us who have served over there, spent a significant amount of time with the people of the lands  we are in (officially, unofficially, and completely covert) have a very different opinion.  It’s very easy for the media to portray the trigger-happy, massacre-inducing and menacing vigilante-soldier, but most people in our great country don’t understand the reality…..soldiers are people too.

I don’t know the soldier in the above picture, I only know that he’s a Special Operations soldier (I think Special Forces, but not 100% sure) in Afghanistan, and portraying one of the aspects of a deployed combat soldiers daily life which the media doesn’t see as fit to report to the American people.  As a medic, I’ve participated in and seen situations just as the one pictured above more times than I can count, from Afghanistan to Iraq and Africa.

Not long after Kanye West was screaming “George Bush hates black people,” I, several doctors and other medics were in Africa on orders from George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld treating and feeding thousands of Africans who had never seen a medical professional before in their lives.  That’s a very strange way to show hatred, isn’t it?

I didn’t want to get on too much of a soapbox here, but do want to help people to realize that soldiers are people too, and for all of the combat, death and destruction you hear about in the news, there are an uncountable number of instances like the one above being played out every day in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Soldiers are people too, and more so than the general public, we know the horrors that war brings.

People think that we as soldiers are all warmongers, but look at it this way: every night, after I tuck my son and daughter in to sleep, I say a prayer for my brothers in harms way, my brothers who never made it home, my brothers-in-arms still in harms way, and all of their families.  I, more than anyone else wish that I didn’t have to lose a part of my soul every night fearing for their safety, but as a realist I understand that it is necessary.  As long as this country is great, we will have enemies, and as long as we have enemies, there will be amazing patriots willing to lay down their lives to fight them and defend her.

So enjoy the BBQ on Sunday (actual Veterans Day, the 11th day of the 11th month every year) or Monday (the Federal Holiday this year)….I’m not one of the people who wants anyone to feel guilty about enjoying themselves that day.  But as you play a round of golf or bite into a tasty mouthful of ribs, remember and say a prayer for those great patriots and their families.  Most importantly, it doesn’t have to be Veteran’s Day for you to personally thank one.  Every minute of every day that you live in Freedom is thanks to a Veteran, so thank them accordingly.

Now that I’m a civilian again, I’d like to say thank you from my family to any active-duty military or veterans who may be reading this: thank you for all that you do, thank you for keeping my family safe, thank you for putting our safety before your own.  I truly believe that certain souls are put into certain bodies for a reason, and that the warrior’s soul is that of a warrior for time eternal.  I’ll proudly stand with you, my brothers on another battlefield in another life, and will happily share a drink with you when it’s out turn in Valhalla.  De Oppresso Liber.

Introduction, 9/11/12

Howdy….I’ve never written a blog before, and have only read a few, so I guess the best place to start would be an introduction to me, this blog and what I hope it will entail.

The people who know me best know that I’m a very passionate guy about the people and things which I’m passionate about.  I have no shortage of opinions, so here’s where you’ll get them, for better or for worse.  I’m conservative on some issues, moderate on others, don’t really delve into liberal territory on anything, but some things you could say I’m left of center on.  I don’t really label myself as Republican or Democrat, because I believe that frames people into a certain “winner/loser” mindset, and forces them to side with a party regardless of issues or representation.  I’m an awake, informed American, and I make up my own mind on issues, with as much information as I can gather about them.  But then sometimes I’m just a stubborn hothead….I’m sure that will come through.

As of now I’m planning on doing a blog post weekly; if people seem to like it, I’ll do it more.   We’ll see where it takes us, but in the end I hope to share a little more information and insight into things that are going on in the world; not everyone has the time to research all of these issues, and most of the media isn’t interested in covering more than the flash and sensationalism of most stories.

Right now the issue of the September 11th, 2012 attacks on the Benghazi attack in Libya is still lingering, and I feel like the issue was talked about at great length (I did a few radio interviews on the subject myself, check out the “LMWIG In the Media” page for links to audio clips), but there still hasn’t been a lot of truth, substance, or value added from what has been said.  I guess that’s the great thing about a blog; I don’t have to worry about a producer, who’s worried about ratings and advertising dollars.  I have a lot of friends who are still in harms way in the middle east and other places, and I stay tuned to them and many different places for my information, some open source, some not.  Here’s my question and answer format on the events of 9/11/12 and some of the current administrations priorities:

Why was the request for security by our embassy in Libya denied?

There has been a disturbingly alarming trend which has risen in the past generation or so that has gone unnoticed and unreported to the general public. Gone are the days when we only trusted the representation of this great nation with the highest defense budget in in the world, many times over, only to men who had served her. We now have a Commander-in-Chief who has no idea of the absolute levity which that position holds. He skipped two intelligence briefs following the Benghazi attack on 9/11/12….to party with Beyonce and Jay-Z and attend a fundraiser.  Do you think his priorities are in protecting our brothers and interests overseas, or in attending parties with enough A-listers to fund his campaign? I hope that it’s just that he doesn’t understand, but there’s a dark place in my mind that thinks he just didn’t care.

The security was most likely denied for several reasons, none of them worth the American lives.  Our overt presence in Libya was very new, and as such the State Department rushed things quite a bit.  Our formal embassy is in Tripoli, which was built to State Department standrds, housed a Marine contingent and could withstand this type of attack.  That is where Ambassador Stevens spent most of his time, and it really hasn’t come out yet why he was in Benghazi, in a consulate (very different from an Embassy in security standards) which was just a rented villa, not built to State Department standards.  All that being said, he should, without question, have had a much larger security contingent for traveling, especially on 9/11, especially going to an area (Benghazi) in which there has been intel of rising Al Qeada presence since the fall of Ghadaffi.

The scariest part of the denial boils down to dollars and cents; the State Department probably didn’t think it was worth the cost to allocate more money to a fledgling program in Libya, and as a result we lost four Americans.

Who were the guys there with the Ambassador?

When you hear there term “contractors,” it is usually just written off without any understanding of the word. The State Department contracts its personal security to Tier 1 contractors….ex-SOF guys, my brothers. The conventional military is spread very thin, as is Special Operations, so these are men who have the experience and expertise to be trusted with our highest-level representatives, wherever they go. Green Berets, SEALs, Delta and the like…these jobs go to the best of the best after they leave the service.

Why did the White House lie? Why did the Secretary of State lie? Why did Joe Biden lie? What does this say about their attitude toward the American people?

The policy of this administration has gone from defending and representing America as the greatest nation in the existence of human history to one of apologizing to both our allies and enemies. Congressman Ryan was 100% correct in saying that we are projecting the wrong statements abroad; if you project apologies, you are seen by the Muslim world as weak.

The White House lied because their foreign policy is to send a docile response and apologize rather than project might, a very dangerous game to play.  This policy caused us to scapegoat an American citizen, and to send more security to the house of an innocent (albeit tasteless) film maker to rouse him out of bed in front of cameras than the Ambassador had in a hostile country.  The Secretary of State and Joe Biden lied because it’s their job to toe the company line, and this close to the election they’re not going to jeapordize their jobs.

This says a lot about their attitude towards the American people, and worse, the American military and our representatives abroad.  Firstly, that Americans are too ignorant to see through an extremely thin veil of lies, and to search for media that isn’t bowing down to Obama (it’s out there, you just have to look) and dares to tell the truth.  As for our military, diplomats and ambassadors, it says that he’s willing to sacrifice you for whatever goals he has, including apeasing our enemies rather than projecting our might.

Biden said the military says we need cutbacks. Is this the truth?

Yes, but in ways that these men who have never served do not understand. We don’t need cutbacks in the basic “beans and bullets” of the military, which is what they are suggesting. We need cutbacks in the very essence of the way the military spends; unfortunately, only those who have served understand the waste of “end of the year buys” and the punishment of commanders for saving money. We need military and business to come together to streamline the way a private organization would have to, and we could easily come up with the cuts needed for sequestration without sacrificing strength.

 What about deployed military votes?

The most patriotic men and women in our great civilization, those who are putting their lives on the line defending freedom 24 hours a day and going without most of the luxuries we take for granted in this country are the ones who are being denied the right to vote? To take a line from “Uncle Joe” Biden, listen to your common sense. If someone is trying to take away the voting rights from these defenders of freedom, is that a person you think you can trust?

It is no secret that the majority of the military are not fans of Obama;  I have a very strong suspicion, which has been confirmed by friends in the entertainment industry, that the major reason the administration went after the “No Easy Day” author for a book about the same thing that the White House leaked to Hollywood was that he told the truth, that the men of Special Operations loathe Obama.

He knows that he cannot win the military vote; there were a lot of speculations during the last election, while I was deployed, on whether our votes were really counted there; do you really think a junior, one-term senator with no military experience beat a war hero, former POW on the military vote?  I think he wants to stack the deck in his favor, and whether he gives that direction or not, the people in his cabinet want to protect their jobs as well, so they will do it for him.  That’s all this is, stacking the deck in his favor, and it’s un-American, un-patriotic, and downright treasonous.
